Child Honouring & Sustainability

Sustainability means living in a way that allows future generations to prosper.

It often refers to conservation of resources, renewable energy development, and anti-pollution laws. These are crucial, but to build a fully sustainable world we need to respect our young children. Children who feel seen, loved and honoured are far more able to become loving parents and productive citizens. Child Honouring is the way to create humane and therefore sustainable cultures.

Imagine a Sustainable, Child Honouring World

  • No child would live in neglect or lack access to health care.
  • You’d see family support centers in every neighborhood.
  • Working with the young would be valued and well rewarded.
  • Children would learn about empathy and the basics of nurturing parenting.
  • We’d all breathe better thanks to strict clean air laws.
  • “Mother’s milk legislation” would detoxify the chemical industry.

Putting children first involves restoring our planet

girl_daisyfield.jpgAs an integrated philosophy, Child Honouring allows us to question everything from the way we measure economic progress to our stewardship of the Earth; from our physical treatment of children to the corporate impact on their minds and bodies; from unthinking consumerism to factory schooling. By honouring the child we honour the Earth, as we work toward a sustainable world.
